We invite qualified candidates to apply for the full-time Recreation Leader III: Head Lifeguard position.
The Opportunity:As a Recreation Leader III, you will work independently reporting to a Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Manager. Your main duties include lifeguarding, supervising lifeguards, pool operators, and instructors during shifts at multiple aquatic facilities, and assisting with special event operations. You will also share responsibilities as a designated manager on duty for the facility, alongside other head lifeguards and aquatics managers.
Major Responsibilities:- Facility Supervision: Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance at the aquatic facility, maintaining proper documentation.
- Staff Supervision: Provide guidance, training, and support to staff during shifts, fostering a positive environment.
- Safety/Training: Administer first aid, respond to emergencies, and ensure staff are trained in lifeguarding and pool operations.
- Customer Service: Deliver excellent service, address concerns, and create a welcoming environment for users.
Qualifications:This supervisory role requires leadership skills, water safety knowledge, and experience operating active pools with diverse user groups. You must maintain a safe, clean environment, lead by example, and be flexible with work hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
About the Department:The Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities Department aims to enrich the community through public spaces, cultural activities, and programs. It is nationally accredited by CAPRA, meeting 155 standards for effective operations.
Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma, three years of related experience or equivalent, and First Aid training. Preferred qualifications include an Aquatic Facility Operator certification from NRPA and experience as a Pool Operator or similar role. The position involves working with others in a customer-focused environment and requires successful completion of a background check and drug test.
