I. Reporting Relationships
Position Reports to: Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management - Traditional Undergraduate
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: Student Assistants
Position Backup: Admissions Counselor
Ii. Basic Functions
The Senior Admission Counselor for Traditional Undergraduate Transfers supports the recruitment and enrollment of transfer students. The Counselor performs duties related to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of traditional undergraduate transfer students.
The Senior Admission Counselor plays a critical role in shaping the transfer recruitment strategy, leveraging data analysis, market research, and evidence-based practices to inform decisions. S/he serves as a representative of Notre Dame of Maryland University, promoting the institution's mission, values, and academic programs to prospective transfer students and external partners.
Iii. Essential Functions
- Coordinates daily operations for transfer admissions initiatives, ensuring smooth executive and effective implementation.
- Fosters, builds, and maintains strong professional relationships with prospective students through in person meetings, phone consultations, email, and virtual sessions.
- Strategically utilizes resources to guide students through the enrollment funnel, from initial inquiry to successful deposit, driving enrollment growth.
- Recruits and advises prospective traditional undergraduate transfer students about academic programs, and admission requirements.
- Evaluates complex admissions applications, transcripts, and other admission materials to determine admission eligibility.
- Creates, maintains, and ensures electronic admissions records are complete, accurate, and up to date via the CRM (Liaison's EMP).
- Communicates admission decisions to students.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other departments to promote academic programs and services.
- Travels for recruitment events, fairs, info sessions, open houses, conferences, and others to promote the University and its programs (Weekends, holiday, and evening work are common and expected to meet the recruitment goals).
- Provides exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving concerns in a timely manner.
- Complete special assignments or duties as assigned and engages in institutional and/or office committees.
- Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as assigned.
Iv. Enhanced Functions
- Cross-functional team member providing mentorship and training to admission counselors, providing guidance on how to effectively use systems and provide support on how to effectively nurture students throughout the enrollment process.
- Works closely with faculty, staff, and other departments to promote academic programs, develop recruitment strategies, and resolve student concerns.
- Provides expert enrollment advising to prospective students, guiding them through the enrollment process from initial inquiry to successful matriculation.
V. QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Bachelor's degree from an accredited University/College, Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in a higher education setting (college/university), specifically in admissions and/or student recruitment with a focus on transfer students.
- Demonstrated excellence and experience.
- Experience and knowledge with higher education technology platforms, i.e., CRM such as Liaison's EMP.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete assignments within deadlines.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Ability to manage and coordinate assignments, working independently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to provide professional customer service.
Skills/Aptitude: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Computer and database literate, strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to be self-motivator and work independently as well as with a team toward institutional goals is necessary. Ability to work as a member of the admissions team to implement enrollment strategies to meet established goals. Good driving record and valid driver's license. Positive attitude and temperament.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment, travel, and some evening and weekend hours as required to meet the needs of prospective students. Attendance at weekend recruitment events is expected.
