Job summary

The City of Port St Lucie is seeking Recreation Instructors to teach classes across various specialty areas such as Dance, Art, and After School Programs. The role is contractual and non-exempt, with the Recreation Instructor reporting to a designated supervisor and working at Parks & Recreation facilities.

Responsibilities include leading programs, coordinating with event staff, and maintaining participant records.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Prior experience in the field you are instructing is required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Communicates with Event staff, participants, sponsors and helps maintain order.
• Maintains accurate drop-in sheets and turns them into designated supervisor.

Are you interested in teaching a class within our Award-winning Parks & Recreation Department? The City of Port St Lucie is looking for instructors in all Specialty areas such as Dance, Art, After School Programs and more!!

The Recreation Instructor is responsible for special programs sponsored or coordinated by the Parks and Recreation Department. A high level of independent judgment is necessary to be a Recreation Instructor. Instructors are under the direction of the assigned designee. The City Manager oversees all City employees. This position is Contractual Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as having no significant occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and as Non-Safety Sensitive; the Recreation Instructor is subject to reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return to duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

This position is a contractual position, subject to the terms and conditions of an employment agreement.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
