Job summary

The City of Port St Lucie is seeking Recreation Instructors to teach classes across various specialty areas such as Dance, Art, and After School Programs. The role is contractual and non-exempt, with the Recreation Instructor reporting to a designated supervisor and working at Parks & Recreation facilities.

Responsibilities include leading programs, coordinating with event staff, and maintaining participant records.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Prior experience in the field you are instructing is required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
• Operates at Parks & Recreation facilities, park sites and/or other work sites as designated by the Administrator or their designee. Assigned work sites could be either indoors or outdoors, as designed by the Administrator or his designee. The Recreation Instructor will be exposed to loud noises, moving participants and the public.
• Communicates with Event staff, participants, sponsors and helps maintain order.
• Maintains accurate drop-in sheets and turns them into designated supervisor.
