PenMet Parks in Gig Harbor, WA is seeking a part-time Pickleball Instructor to develop and lead high-quality pickleball programs for participants of all ages and skill levels. Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements curriculum for specific classes, activities, and programs.
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts recreation classes in activities such as arts and crafts, dance, music, drama, sports, games, etc.
  • Plans and secures materials and equipment used for classes, programs, and activities.
  • Observes safety precautions and writes accident/incident reports as required.
  • Provides top-quality customer service and serves as a liaison between participants and PenMet Parks staff.
  • Maintains records for reporting and participates in training and events as assigned.
  • Performs maintenance to keep facilities and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Assists with continuous improvement of programs and services.

The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for developing and leading high-quality pickleball programs for participants of all ages and skill levels. This position provides instruction through clinics, lessons, and recreational programming while also organizing leagues, tournaments, and special events. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the sport, and committed to creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment that promotes skill development and community engagement.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Recreation Instructor assists with the organization, planning, and facilitation of a variety of recreation activities in various seasonal programs.The Recreation Instructorprovidesexcellent customer servicetoall program participants by exemplifyingapositive attitude and exceeding the needs of participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Creates and implements curriculum for specific classes, activities, and programs.
  • Assists with planning, scheduling, and conducting recreation classes in activities such as arts and crafts, dance, music, drama, sports, games, etc.
  • Plans and secures materials and equipment used for classes, programs, and activities.
  • Observes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of participants and writes accident and incident reports as required.
  • Demonstrates superior customer service, promotes the organization, and works as a liaison between program participants and PenMet Parks staff.
  • Monitors, collects, tracks, and verifies accurate records for reporting purposes.
  • Assists with training, demonstrations, certifications, and other community events as assigned.
  • Performs assigned maintenance duties to keep equipment and facilities for programs clean and in working order. Ensures supplies are adequately stocked and keeps all areas of the program site clean and free from debris.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of assigned programs, methods, and procedures and works with personnel on the continuous improvement of programs and services.
  • Responds to and resolves complaints or issues in partnership with appropriate PenMet Parks staff.
  • Stays current with industry standards and their influence on the desired outcome.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

  • One year of experience and applicable education, and/or trainingthat would provide the required knowledge and abilities to meet the needs of the program.

Required Education:

  • High school education or comparable experience.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Thispositionmayworkanirregularschedulethatincludessomeeveningsandweekendsas dictatedbyDistrictprogramsandspecialevents.
  • May have contact with adverse weather conditions, noise, dust, poor air quality, pollen, and insects.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and orupto10poundsofforceconstantlytomoveobjects.
  • Position is subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Position is subject to noise, and/or vibration.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license (required).
