An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Recreation Coordinator to oversee activities at a vibrant recreation center. This role involves planning and supervising diverse programs while managing part-time staff and volunteers. Performs intermediate work in conducting a variety of specialized programs and activities in an activity center or similar facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Recreation Division Center Supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over assigned center personnel.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, and grasping. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is necessary for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing surroundings and activities. The worker may be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, bloodborne pathogens, and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
General knowledge of recreation principles, rules, materials, and equipment; ability to give routine instructions; understanding of public recreation philosophy and objectives, psychology, and sociology; knowledge of first aid practices; ability to adhere to program standards, lead groups, resolve disputes impartially, and deal tactfully with the public.
Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, with moderate experience in supervising organized recreational activities and caring for recreational facilities and equipment. Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license in North Carolina or ability to obtain one within 6 months is preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications are required or obtainable within 3 months of employment.
