Job summary

City of Cortez, CO is seeking an experienced Recreation Center Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations at the Cortez Recreation Center. You will supervise the front desk, customer service, and administration, while supporting programming, reservations, and billing for community programs.

You will help ensure smooth operation of gym, track, courts, meeting spaces, locker rooms, and pool areas, stepping in as needed for the Recreation Center Manager and coordinating with staff to maintain

Qualifications

• Knowledge of municipal organization and procedures.
• Strong communication skills and sound supervisory judgment; at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Calm, professional public interaction in stressful situations.
• Basic accounting understanding; ability to learn recreation database software.
• Ability to perform semi-skilled repair/maintenance; strong visual acuity for facility oversight.
• Valid Colorado Driver License; obtain First Aid/CPR/AED within 90 days (pool knowledge preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Front Desk/Customer Service/Administration team.
• Support programming, reservations, and billing.
• Help ensure proper operation of facility areas such as gymnasium, fitness space, walking track, racquetball courts, meeting rooms, locker rooms, and pool operations.
