Job summary

The City of Cortez, Colorado is seeking a Part Time Parks and Recreation Specialist to enhance the community's recreational experience. This onsite role involves coordinating sports programs, managing reservations at the recreation center, and collaborating with diverse teams to deliver quality services.

The ideal candidate is at least 18, holds a Colorado driver's license with CPR and First Aid certification, and can lead staff, engage user groups, and support marketing and policy development

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and oral.
• Leadership techniques to guide staff and volunteers.
• One year of experience in recreation program management or related work.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to use a recreation management system.
• Passion for community service and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize resources to execute programs and events.
• Lead and guide program staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Engage with user groups, participants, and spectators to ensure excellent service.
• Contribute to program operations, including policies, events, and marketing content.
