Job summary

Insight Memory Care Center in Fairfax, VA is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant (PRN) to support participants with dementia through engaging activities in a respectful, person-centered environment. Responsibilities include leading group and individual activities, assisting with daily living tasks, and coordinating with a caring team during hours 9:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

This role emphasizes compassion, creativity, and reliable collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of experience with individuals with dementia in a memory care setting.
• Ability to facilitate a wide variety of programs including music, art, cognitive, social and physical activities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills; able to work independently.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, email, virtual meeting platforms, and general internet use.

Recreation Assistant - PRN

The Recreation Assistant (RA) will be responsible for day-to-day activities of participants in large groups, small groups and as individuals to help meet their psycho-social needs. The RA will report directly to the Director of Recreation (DR). The RA will also help participants with completing activities of daily living while at the Center. The RA is also responsible for fostering a team-focused environment and practicing Person Centered Care for all participants in their programming and care needs.This position is Monday-Friday, with a possible schedule during the following operating hours 9:30am-5:30pm.

This position is required to work at least once every 30 days to remain active with Insight.

Education

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Music, Art, or Speech Therapy (or related field), or equivalent work experience is preferred.

Experience

• Must have a minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with dementia in a memory care setting.
• Must be able to assist in facilitating a wide variety of programs including but not limited to: music, art, cognitive, social and physical activities.
• Must be able to work independently and have strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, email, virtual meeting platforms, and ability utilize the internet.
