Job summary

NeighborHealth in Winthrop, MA, is seeking a Recreation Therapy Assistant for the PACE Center. You will assist the Recreation Therapist, support Participant Council meetings, and help shape recreation activities within individualized care plans and CMS guidelines.

As a full-time, on-site role, you will collaborate with PCAs and IDT members, guide activities safely, and maintain privacy and quality while thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• HHA/CNA or National Activities certification.
• Two years’ experience with elders or frail population in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Recreation Therapist with PACE Center Participant Council meetings to support rights, engagement, and CMS-compliant feedback.
• Contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreation aligned with care plans and IDT goals.
• Provide guidance to Personal Care Assistants to ensure safe, appropriate participant involvement per PACE policies.

Position Summary:

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist the Recreation Therapist with facilitation of PACE Center based Participant Council meetings to support participant rights, engagement, and feedback in compliance with CMS requirements


• Contribute to the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of therapeutic recreation programming aligned with individualized care plans and interdisciplinary team (IDT) goals


• Provide guidance and support to Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to ensure safe, appropriate, and compliant participant involvement in activities in accordance with PACE policies and quality standards.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred


• HHA, CNA, or National Activities professional certification.


• Two years’ experience working with elders or other frail population, preferably in a health care setting.


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse teams.


• Experience and confidence in leading small and large groups.


• Exceptional problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.


• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.


• Flexibility, reliability, initiative, creativity and organizational skills, sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.


• Physical capability


• Proficiency in Microsoft and variety of computer programs within the context of the activities program.


• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


• Bilingual a plus.

Schedule: 5 Days: On-Site. 7:30 am – 4:00 Mon-Fri
