Job summary

City of Suffolk is seeking a Supervisory Recreation Coordinator to develop and oversee recreation and art programs, supervise staff, and coordinate with community groups and other agencies. You will manage budgets, monitor facilities, and ensure high-quality program delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4–6 years of athletics administration experience, plus a valid driver's license. Certification as CRP is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four to six years of experience in athletics administration or an equivalent combination.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Preferred certification as Certified Recreation and Parks Professional.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in standard English.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, coordinates and supervises City-sponsored recreation and athletic programs and events.
  • Determines community needs, coordinates with other agencies and community groups.
  • Supervises staff, handles personnel issues and risk management activities.
  • Observes programs and facilities for quality, proper use of equipment and sportsmanship.
  • Prepares budget requests, allocates funds and approves expenditures.
  • Participates in recruitment, hiring and training of staff.
  • Maintains records and prepares periodic reports.
