Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New York's Sheepshead Bay community is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Recreation Aide to enrich residents' lives through engaging activities that support physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead group activities and one-on-one programs for residents.
• Distribute newspapers, mail, and packages.
• Record attendance and resident participation.
• Escort residents to and from activity areas.
• Assist with virtual visits (Zoom/FaceTime).
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
• Support the recreation team with tasks as assigned.

We are a warm, patient-oriented 200-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center overlooking the scenic Sheepshead Bay. Established in 1970, our center has been a pioneering force in rehabilitation services, centered on optimal care, advanced therapeutic technology, and life-enriching programs.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and energetic Part-Time Recreation Aide to join our team and help enrich the lives of our residents through engaging and meaningful activities.

About the Role:

As a Recreation Aide, you will be an essential part of our residents' daily lives. You’ll support the Recreation Department by organizing and leading activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with seniors and wants to make a positive impact in a warm, community-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in group activities and one-on-one programs with residents on the units
• Distribute newspapers, resident mail, and packages
• Maintain accurate daily attendance and document resident participation in activities
• Escort and transport residents to and from program areas
• Assist residents with virtual visits such as Zoom or FaceTime calls
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere during all activities
• Support the recreation team with additional tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a healthcare or recreation setting is a plus
• Friendly, outgoing personality and a genuine interest in working with the elderly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and professional
