The City of Jacksonville is looking for Recreation Aides to assist the Community Services Division with activities involved with the Before & After School program and Recreation Department rentals. Recreation Aides perform responsible semiskilled work assisting with a variety of special events, programs and activities in recreation facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Recreation Center Supervisor, Assistant Center Supervisor or Recreation Program Assistant.
Before & After School Program Grades K-8 Qualified staff provide an active and safe environment for students before and after school during traditional school calendar days. Activities will include homework time, snack, arts & crafts, and more.

The salary posted is the full hourly range for this position. The starting hourly rate is expected to be in the range of $15.06 - $19.57 hourly depending on qualifications.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and 6 months to 2 years experience in organized recreational programs. May require possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
General knowledge of the principles, rules, materials and equipment requirements of a variety of recreational activities; ability to give routine instructions; general knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation, psychology and sociology, and of personal health and hygiene; general knowledge of the first aid practices and techniques; ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined by superiors, and to lead and instruct groups in games, sports and other recreational activities; ability to resolve disputes with firmness and impartiality; ability to meet and deal tactfully with the public.
