The City of Monroe (NC) is seeking staff to assist with daily community center activities and oversee facility readiness for rentals and events. This role operates under supervision from Parks and Recreation Supervisors and includes enforcing park rules and ensuring safety during programs.
Responsibilities include collecting fees, monitoring participants, answering calls, maintaining clean facilities, and preparing spaces for activities while documenting incidents and reports.
Performs work assisting with daily community center activities; oversees and prepares facility for rentals; does related work as required. Work is performed under the close supervision of the respective Parks and Recreation Center Supervisors.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, standing, and walking; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and noise. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
General knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation work including knowledge of the equipment and techniques, relevant rules and regulations of social, artistic, craft and/or athletic programs for children; ability to instruct common recreational activities; maintain order in a public facility; ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline; ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined; ability to manage a large number of children and groups; ability to prepare and maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants and the general public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) and Basic First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
