The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Recreation Specialist to plan and supervise recreational activities for detainees. You will coach teams, oversee tournaments, and ensure safe use of equipment in a secure setting.

The role requires a high school diploma with desirable PE-related education, and a valid driver’s license. Prior experience with inmate populations or PE programs is a strong asset. This full-time position supports facility wellness and orderly recreation operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree in Physical Education or Recreation desirable.
• Experience with inmate populations or in a physical education program is a plus.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize recreational activities.
• Coach athletic teams.
• Oversee all competitions and tournaments.
• Show detainees the proper way to safely use recreational equipment.
• Inspect recreation area for cleanliness and safety.
• Provide weekly safety training to recreation staff.
• Check detainees in and out of the gym.
• Maintain recreation department records and equipment schedules.
