The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Recreation Specialist to plan and lead recreational activities for detainees at GEO Secured Services. The role involves organizing teams, coordinating tournaments, and ensuring safe use of equipment within a correctional environment.

You will inspect facilities, provide safety trainings, handle attendance, and maintain records while collaborating with staff to support rehabilitation and orderly operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required. Degree in Physical Education, recreational therapy, or related field highly desirable.
• Experience with inmate populations or in a physical education program is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize recreational activities.
• Coach all athletic teams.
• Organize and oversee all competitions and tournaments.
• Show detainees the proper way to safely use recreational equipment.
• Inspect recreation area for cleanliness and safety.
• Provide weekly safety training to recreation orderlies and clerks.
• Check all detainees in and out of the gym.
• Maintain recreation department records.
• Maintain and schedule the repair of recreation equipment.
