Job summary

GEO Group seeks a dedicated Recreation Coordinator to supervise and deliver safe, engaging athletic and recreation activities for detainees onsite. You will coach teams, organize tournaments, maintain equipment, and ensure cleanliness and safety across the recreation area.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (a degree in Physical Education or Recreational Therapy is a plus), and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required. Degree in Physical Education, recreational therapy, or related field highly desirable.
• Experience working with inmate populations or in a physical education program is an asset.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize recreational activities.
• Coach all athletic teams.
• Organize and oversee all competitions and tournaments.
• Show detainees the proper way to safely use recreational equipment.
• Inspect recreation area for cleanliness and safety.
• Provide weekly safety training to recreation orderlies and clerks.
• Check all detainees in and out of the gym.
• Maintain recreation department records.
• Maintain and schedule the repair of recreation equipment.

Education

High school diploma

Degree in Physical Education or Recreational Therapy (desirable)
