Job summary

Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals experiencing homelessness. You will use your lived experience to support wellness, recovery, and goal attainment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include building relationships, promoting recovery, and maintaining compliant documentation. The role emphasizes client advocacy, continuous follow-up, and participation in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Peer support experience in community-based settings.
• Strong understanding of recovery-oriented care principles.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Valid Georgia driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Experience working with homeless populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and provide peer-based support and encouragement.
• Promote recovery, wellness, self-direction, socialization, and community integration.
• Assist clients in developing skills to manage symptoms and access resources.
• Identify strengths and help set meaningful recovery goals.
• Facilitate communication of health concerns and track progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans.
• Serve as a client advocate informed by lived experience.
• Maintain documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in supervision and professional development.
• Perform other duties to support Mercy Care Atlanta's mission.
