Job summary

Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals experiencing homelessness and to promote recovery and wellbeing within a multidisciplinary team. You will use lived experience to foster hope, self‑advocacy, and lasting stability while helping clients access community resources and navigate care plans.

Qualifications

• Georgia Certified Peer Specialist certification or eligibility within six months of hire.
• Strong understanding of recovery‑oriented care and psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Georgia driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Minimum of two years of peer support experience.
• Experience with homelessness and complex healthcare needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and provide peer‑based support and encouragement.
• Promote recovery, wellness, self‑direction, socialization, and community integration.
• Assist clients in managing symptoms and navigating resources.
• Help clients identify strengths and recovery goals.
• Facilitate activities to track progress and advocate for needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on care plans.
• Serve as a client advocate informed by lived experience.
• Monitor progress and adjust goals and care plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation compliant with standards.
• Ensure HIPAA and confidentiality compliance.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, and ongoing education.
• Perform other duties to support Mercy Care Atlanta.
