Job summary

AtlantiCare's John Brooks Recovery Center in Mays Landing seeks a part-time Driver Recovery Coach for evenings to support transportation and engagement in recovery programs. A high school diploma, valid NJ driver’s license, and required CCAR training are essential, with CPI due within 90 days of hire.

Personal recovery experience and cultural sensitivity are highly valued. The role emphasizes patient engagement, coordination with residential and clinical programs, and a commitment to teamwork

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid NJ Driver's License required.
• 18 hours Ethics/Peer Support Training and 46 hours Recovery Specialist training (CCAR) required.
• CPI required within 90 days of hire or transfer. Current incumbents required to obtain CPI by 7/31/2026.
• Minimum 1 year of personal recovery and a knowledge of the recovery process.
• Ability to recognize the elements of a client crisis required.
• Advocates on behalf of the client(s) if in need required.
• Provides routine recovery check-ups through telephone support required.
• Ability to respect all cultures and ethic differences required.
• Performance expectations: Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Responsibilities

• Transport clients by van for residential, clinical, and medical programs.
• Assist in client engagement and ensuring smooth transition into their program.
• Educates individuals on how to navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems.
• Act as positive role model to individuals and their families, by sharing experiential knowledge, hope and skills.
• Maintains relationships with individuals and families to assist engagement and retention.
• Reinforces guides and ensures patients and their families that recovery is possible, built on strengths and resources.
• Assists survivors with gaining skills and resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery.
• Helps establish a social and physical environment supportive of recovery.
• Enhances identification and participation in the recovery community.
• Advocates for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery.
• Empowers individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathways.
• Provides on-call coverage if need be.
• Transports patients as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
