Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks a Peer Support Specialist for Behavioral Health Urgent Care. The role uses personal recovery experience to help individuals achieve personal goals and strengthen natural supports within community and clinical settings.

You will share lived experience, support wellness, and collaborate with teams to develop crisis and relapse prevention plans. Travel may be required to provide transportation and participate in meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Lived experience with mental health or substance use disorders (personal recovery story) is required.
• Experience working with adults with substance use disorder(s) is required.

Responsibilities

• Share lived experience to support treatment and recovery.
• Mentor recovery values and wellness
• Explore wellness identity with individuals served
• Promote personal growth and relapse prevention planning
• Model healthy social interactions and community connection
• Participate in crisis planning and WRAP development
• Assist individuals with self-determination and advocacy
• Support recovery in groups and community settings
• Assist with crisis interventions as needed
• Document encounters for billing and progress notes
• Maintain relationships with communities and stakeholders
• Provide transportation as needed
• Attend required trainings and meetings
• Maintain necessary certifications
