Job summary

Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist in Decatur, Illinois. You will use lived experience to provide hope, guidance, and practical support to adults on their recovery journey in home and community settings.

Responsibilities include mentoring clients, linking to housing, employment, and services, coordinating care with partners, and promoting recovery principles per SAMHSA while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of recovery principles and peer support ethics.
• Familiarity with mental health and substance use challenges and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting, supportive relationships with individuals based on lived experience and mutual respect.
• Provide peer mentoring and recovery coaching to help clients identify strengths and goals.
• Promote SAMHSA's recovery principles by encouraging self-determination and community inclusion.
• Assist clients in accessing housing, employment, education, healthcare, and social supports.
• Facilitate connections to peer support groups and recovery activities.
• Model recovery and resilience through appropriate self-disclosure and advocacy.
• Support transitions such as hospital discharge, crisis stabilization, or entry into treatment.
• Document services accurately and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborate with clinical teams and community partners to coordinate care.
