Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Recovery Specialist at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ for three 12-hour night shifts. The role supports individuals with substance-use disorders through non-clinical recovery coaching and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum of a high school diploma and 4 years in recovery principles are required. Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification is required at hire or within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years of experience in recovery principles.
• Ability to travel within a 60-mile radius of the assigned hospital for cross coverage when needed.

Responsibilities

• Engage client/patient to provide non-clinical recovery support and share lived experience to build trust.
• Conduct client/patient screening and input data into the EHR per guidelines.
• Ensure accurate documentation and timely follow-up for grant compliance.
• Create individualized recovery support plans based on patient needs and SDOH.
• Establish supportive relationships with clients and families as a positive role model.
• Educate individuals on navigating treatment and recovery services with hospital staff support.
• Empower individuals to make self-directed recovery choices.
• Facilitate recovery support meetings and groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
