Job summary

Sentara Healthcare Inc. in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Recovery Nurse to support Endoscopy, Vascular, Neuro-Interventional and Interventional Radiology procedures at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's VIC.

The RN provides post-procedure care, assessments, education, and safe recovery monitoring. Shifts are rotating 0800–2100 with one weekend every 7–8 weeks; requires Virginia RN license, BLS and ACLS, and at least 1 year in PACU/ICU/ED or procedural recovery.

Qualifications

Current RN license in the state of Virginia is required.
BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA-approved) are required.
At least 1 year of experience in PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural recovery nursing.

Responsibilities

Receive post-procedural patients and perform focused recovery assessments including vital signs, neuro checks, and site monitoring.
Monitor for complications such as bleeding, hemodynamic instability, or adverse reactions to sedation/anesthesia.
Manage pain, nausea, and other immediate recovery needs with physician-directed interventions.
Provide discharge instructions and education tailored to the patient’s procedure and condition.
Document all recovery findings and nursing care in EPIC.
Facilitate safe and timely discharge or admission based on patient status.
