Job summary
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a full-time Preoperative & Recovery Nurse (RN) to care for patients undergoing gastroenterology, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures. Qualifications
- Current Virginia RN license required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA-approved).
- At least 1 year of experience in PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural recovery nursing.
Responsibilities
- Receive post-procedural patients and perform focused recovery assessments including vitals, neuro checks, and site monitoring.
- Monitor for complications such as bleeding, hemodynamic instability, or adverse reactions to sedation/anesthesia.
- Manage pain, nausea, and other recovery needs with physician-directed interventions.
- Provide discharge instructions and education tailored to the patient’s procedure and condition.
- Document recovery findings and nursing care in EPIC; facilitate safe discharge or admission.
