Job summary

Northeast Independent Living Program Inc is seeking a Recovery Peer Support Specialist to foster a safe, welcoming environment and facilitate peer-run groups in the Northeast Recovery Learning Community. The role covers Metro North and North Shore areas and emphasizes recovery, resiliency, and wellness through group and 1-1 support.

Qualifications

• Must be a peer with lived experience of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or traumatic histories.
• Must be willing to complete group facilitation training within the first 12 months of employment.
• Bi-lingual/bi-cultural candidates are highly desirable.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel independently.
• Preference given to qualified candidates who self-identify as an individual with a disability.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate weekly peer support groups focusing on mental health recovery and wellness.
• Provide 1-1 peer support to members of the NERLC community as needed.
• Share personal recovery story to build trusting relationships.
• Contribute to expanding the NERLC information and referral database.
• Assist in expanding programming on recovery, resiliency, and wellness.
• Provide up-to-date information and contacts for recovery-related services.
• Document requests and referrals and locate sources for new information.
• Assist in monthly data collection and reporting.
