Job summary

ACMH is seeking a Peer Program & Support Specialist to provide direct home-based services, mentor peer staff, and promote recovery-oriented peer support within the organization. The role includes group facilitation, staff development, and ensuring safety and well-being of residents.

Requirements include lived experience with mental health services, NYCPS certification, and a high school diploma or GED. English communication and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with mental health services and a commitment to helping others.
  • NYCPS certification required.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and advocacy to peer staff while supporting their development and recovery-oriented peer support integration.
  • Supports ACMH peer staff with monthly groups (Zoom and in-person).
  • Teaches daily living skills including personal hygiene, laundry, apartment cleaning, budgeting, meal planning and preservation.
