Job summary

Central Wyoming Counseling Center is seeking a Peer Navigator who uses lived experience to provide non-clinical, strengths-based support for individuals affected by substance use disorders. The role focuses on reducing barriers to care, connecting clients with treatment, recovery resources, and community services.

The position requires a Bachelor's in a human services field, Peer Specialist Certification, and demonstrated experience in behavioral health or related areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services arena (Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice) is required.
• Must have self-identified lived experience of substance use disorder and recovery and the ability to use that experience professionally.
• Peer Specialist Certification is required or strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated volunteer or paid experience supporting individuals with mental illness or substance use concerns is required.
• At least 2 years of behavioral health service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess client needs, strengths, barriers, and available support through direct interaction.
• Assist with recovery, linkage, and WRAP goals within the program model.
• Advocate for client access to services and for systems change while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Travel into the community for mobile outreach to engage individuals in need of on-site assistance.
• Provide non-clinical, strength-based peer support and system navigation.
