Job summary

Volunteers of America Oregon is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented peer services to clients in outpatient settings in Portland, OR. The role focuses on relationship-building, goal setting, and connecting individuals to essential resources and treatment services using trauma-informed approaches.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
CRM or PSS credential within 3 months of hire.
Eligibility to enroll as Medicaid provider in Oregon.

Responsibilities

Builds and maintains peer relationships grounded in recovery to promote client engagement.
Supports clients in identifying recovery goals across treatment, housing, employment, and wellness.
Provides mentorship using trauma-informed, person-centered, and harm-reduction approaches.
Facilitates peer-led recovery groups and activities to support community and accountability.
Assists clients in navigating behavioral health, social services, and justice systems to increase access to services.
