Job summary

The Centers in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Peer Specialist who has lived experience with mental health services to support clients and teams under supervision. You will provide peer counseling, assist in treatment planning, and connect clients with community resources, education, and crisis intervention as needed.

You will mentor clients, share recovery insights, and help reduce stigma while promoting consumer advocacy and self-help participation across the program.

Qualifications

• The Peer Specialist must meet local standards for certification as a peer specialist OR if peer certification is unavailable locally, minimum qualifications include: self-identified as an individual with a serious mental illness who is currently or formerly a recipient of mental health services; in the process of recovery; and has completed training in wellness management and recovery interventions.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with less than six points and proof of automobile insurance in accordance with The Centers requirements.
• CPR Certification, first aid and non-violent crisis intervention training (within 60 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and consultation to clients to promote recovery and self-direction.
• Facilitate wellness management and recovery strategies and participate in treatment planning and chart notes.
• Serve as a mentor to clients and provide consultation from a mental health consumer perspective.
• Help clients identify and combat stigma, and increase participation in self-help programs and consumer advocacy.
