Job summary

Central Counties Services is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the Jail Diversion – Crisis Residential Facility in Belton, TX. You will work under supervision to model recovery and provide non-clinical peer support in outpatient settings.

The role emphasizes empowerment, personal recovery, and consumer advocacy, with responsibilities spanning documentation, engagement, and collaboration with treatment teams. Flexible scheduling may apply, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of recovery-related experience and ability to manage personal wellness.
• MHPS/RSPS certification through the Texas Certification Board or eligible to obtain within 1 year.
• Ability to speak before groups and in community settings.
• At least 1 year of lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use.
• Must disclose personal experience as part of recovery support work.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery education for all phases of recovery.
• Conduct regular group sessions and individual meetings to foster self-advocacy.
• Facilitate group skills training and model coping strategies.
• Attend weekly team meetings and monthly supervision.
• Identify and link to community resources supporting clients’ goals.
