Tri-County Human Services seeks a dedicated Peer Specialist to provide consumer perspective input on community services and act as a recovery role model. You will help with individualized case management, linking clients to medical, community, and specialty services as needed.

The position emphasizes dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity, with duties including enrollment assistance and collaboration with clinicians to support client recovery goals.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting.
• Incumbent must complete mandatory Tri-County training and obtain certification as a Certified Peer Specialist within one year.
• Knowledge of addictions and/or mental health treatment programs and supportive services.

Responsibilities

• Attends and participates in community meetings addressing substance abuse and mental health issues.
• Speaks with individuals about services and provides feedback to the department and providers.
• Assist providers in developing recovery objectives aligned with individual goals.
• Engages individuals to discuss experiences to promote understanding and hope for recovery.
• Develop rapport with individuals in the criminal justice system or with behavioral/emotional difficulties.
• Assist with enrollment for services provided by community behavioral health providers.
• Support staff in identifying recovery-conducive environments and lend insight into mental illness and recovery.
• Facilitate peer group support using Illness Management and Recovery models.

Education
