Job summary

The Peer Company in Portland, OR, is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist for the BHRC Outreach Team. The position involves field work across weather conditions with a 40-hour work week and a pay of $25.00 per hour, based at BHRC – 333 SW Park Ave, Portland.

As part of an interdisciplinary team, the PSS will connect individuals to health and social services, help develop PDPs, and remove barriers to resources, aiming to support recovery and housing goals.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A criminal background check will be conducted per policy.
• Pre-hire drug screenings are required for all potential employees.
• Must have lived experience in recovery with SUD and/or mental health challenges for 24 months.
• Understanding trauma-informed care, recovery, and consumer-involvement.

Responsibilities

• Provides 1:1 peer support to individuals served.
• Meets performance expectations outlined in the Operations Handbook.
• Collaborates with individuals to create Person Directed Plans (PDPs).
• Participates in regular peer support supervision sessions.
• Collaborates with service providers to support PDPs and recovery journeys.
• Attends meetings to communicate program objectives and advocate for participants.
