Job summary

North Suffolk Community Services (NSCS) is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to advocate for recovery-based supports and help clients access services. The role emphasizes lived experience to inspire hope, with supervision from a Recovery Manager and access to psycho-educational groups.

Full-time, Monday–Friday; 36 hours weekly, with some nights and weekends. Includes comprehensive benefits and opportunities for advancement within NSCS.

Qualifications

• This role requires lived experience with mental health recovery or co-occurring disorders.
• Education: high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required to attend off-site functions.

Responsibilities

• Support person served with recovery-oriented skills and community integration.
• Engage individuals via in-person and telehealth outreach.
• Assist the treatment team to develop wellness and action plans.
• Coach individuals toward their personal recovery goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
