Job summary

Promise Resource Network in Charlotte, NC seeks a Recovery Court and Hub Peer Support Specialist to provide one-to-one peer mentoring and group support to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. The role supports court-ordered participants within Mecklenburg County Recovery Court and participates in staffing and court sessions.

Responsibilities include developing recovery plans, facilitating groups, and coordinating with the Bridges case manager.

Qualifications

• Current NC Certified Peer Support Specialist or certification within 90 days.
• Lived experience of DSS/YFS involvement affecting children.
• Lived experience of justice involvement per sequential intercept model.
• Lived experience of recovery from MH/SA or trauma.
• Belief in recovery potential and commitment to peer support.
• Ability to receive guidance and mentoring to grow skills.
• Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN's mission and values.
• Reliable, responsible, team player with personal resilience.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Valid NC Driver's license.
• No pending criminal charges or open YFS case.

Responsibilities

• Interface empathetically with peers, colleagues, providers, family, and community.
• Facilitate group presentations on mental health topics and share recovery journeys.
• Establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Coordinate peer services including recovery plans and outreach to peers.
• Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and supervision sessions.
• Represent the agency professionally within the community and workplace.
• Conduct recovery hub and community classes; ensure hub coverage daily.
• Support individuals in the Hub as needed and maintain caseloads.
