Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload of at least 35 participants and coordinate services.
• Advocate for services and participate in court hearings.
• Perform intake assessments to determine program eligibility.
• Coordinate weekly drug testing and monitor treatment attendance.
• Maintain records and progress notes; coordinate with partner agencies.
• Collaborate with detention staff, DA, Public Defender, and treatment providers.
• Participate in monthly opioid settlement meetings and other team meetings.

Job description

The primary responsibility for this position is to provide comprehensive and complex Case management for justice-involved program participants by coordinating services that include evidence-based opioid use disorder treatment, substance use disorder treatment, and mental health treatment linkage to care, such as transportation, employment, and housing assistance. Assesses candidates to determine eligibility and completion of intake interviews on new participants, advocates for necessary services, attends court sessions, facilitates pre-court staff meetings, and works closely with multi-disciplinary team to assist with decision-making.

• Maintain a caseload of at least 35 active participants and provide ongoing case
• Management with discussion of participant progress, concerns, problem-solving, and crisis intervention.
• Assess and interview individuals referred to determine program eligibility.
• Coordinate weekly drug testing with treatment provider (as needed)
• Monitor treatment attendance, recovery support meeting attendance, schedule random drug testing, and functions a s a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Present participant concerns and successes before a presiding judge during court hearings.
• Maintain participant records, document progress notes, and refer participants for additional assistance as needed.
• Other duties include working in partnership with key agencies including contracted treatment providers, Alamance County Detention Staff, the District Attorney’s Office, District Court Judge’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and other various community partnerships.
• Participate in:
  1. Opioid Settlement Monthly Meetings with Alamance County Health Department
  2. Jail Mental Health Team
  3. Pre-Trial team meetings
  4. Other committees or councils as recommended by the immediate supervisor

Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems.
• Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment.
• Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.
• General knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment are required in certain programs or settings.
• Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial. behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problem.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors’ members of case load and their families, and with civics medical, social and religious organizations.
• Ability to train or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
• Knowledge of the criminal justicesystem
• Knowledge of the drug treatment court model and best practices

• Ability to communicate oral and written information to individuals or groups in an effective way
