Job summary

Alamance County Department of Social Services is seeking a Social Worker - Investigative/Assessment and Treatment to join the Child Welfare Unit. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) plus one year of social work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) with one year of social work or counseling experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school and two years of social work or counseling experience
• Master’s degree in a related field plus two years of social work or counseling experience
• Four-year degree in Human Services or related field with three years of social work or counseling experience
• Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered

• Take charge of Family and Investigative Assessments, stepping in to make a real difference from day one
• Be the go-to professional for a range of child welfare needs, from follow-up home visits to managing in-home services and foster care cases
• Safely and responsibly transport clients, ensuring their well-being every step of the way
• Prepare and deliver reports for court, documenting every contact and treatment plan with precision
• Serve as a credible expert witness in court, presenting findings and testifying in hearings with professionalism

Education & Experience

We’re looking for someone with the right mix of education and hands‑on experience! Here’s what we’re looking for:

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) plus one year of social work experience, or
• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) with one year of social work or counseling experience, or
• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school and two years of social work or counseling experience, or
• A Master’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited school, plus two years of social work or counseling experience, or
• A four‑year degree in Human Services or a related field with three years of social work or counseling experience, or
• A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in rehabilitation, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field, with expertise in casework, group work, or community organization.
