Job summary

BHcare in North Branford, CT seeks a Peer Support Specialist to use lived experience to guide peers through recovery, build connections, and access services. You will provide outreach, education, navigation, and recovery support to individuals with mental health or substance use challenges.

Qualifications

Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with clinicians, medical professionals, law enforcement, and community providers.

Responsibilities

Provide peer outreach, engagement, education, navigation, and recovery support to individuals living with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
Build supportive peer relationships and help individuals connect with and remain engaged in treatment and recovery services.
Connect individuals with community resources such as transportation, housing, employment, benefits, and recovery support programs.
Facilitate recovery-focused groups and advocate for the needs and preferences of the individuals served.
