Vigo County Health Department in Terre Haute, IN is seeking a Recovery Coach to provide non-clinical, peer-based support to individuals in recovery from addiction. The role emphasizes respect, self-direction, and empowerment, with education on community resources and collaboration with local agencies.

The candidate should have at least a high school diploma, 3 years of personal recovery experience, and willingness to obtain CAPRC certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years demonstrated personal recovery experience and engaged in a recovery network.
• Prior Completion of the CAPRC certification preferred but not required.
• Experience facilitating recovery groups.
• Must have knowledge of recovery support systems, including but not limited to, 12-step support groups; and providing direct service.
• Must have experience and/or a working knowledge of the criminal justice system.
• Must Possess valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrate a safe driving record.
• Ability to meet all department hiring requirements, including passage of a drug test.

• Demonstrates positive beliefs and feelings regarding participants with varying levels of needs.
• Collects participant data and conduct follow up surveys to ensure long-term participant engagement.
• Helps navigate recovery support systems.
• Able to share personal recovery experiences and can model effective coping techniques.
• Provides peer support in a positive and supportive manner through coaching, role modeling and mentoring in order to assist members in developing skills to achieve their goals.
• Serves as a liaison between administration, staff, and participants.
• Effective written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate in a professional manner.
