Job summary

The Vigo County Health Department seeks a Peer Recovery Coach to provide non-clinical, recovery-focused support at 147 Oak Street, Terre Haute. You will share recovery experiences, offer coaching, and connect clients with community resources.

Candidates must have a HS diploma, 3 years of recovery experience, and the ability to navigate recovery networks and criminal justice resources. This full-time role offers benefits and a shift 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of personal recovery experience and engagement in a recovery network.
• CAPRC certification preferred but not required.
• Experience facilitating recovery groups.
• Knowledge of recovery support systems, including 12-step programs.
• Working knowledge of the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of trauma informed care.
• Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Provides peer support and coaching to participants.
• Connects participants with community resources and assists with barriers to recovery.
• Documents progress and follows up on referrals and outcomes.
• Represents the health department professionally in the community.
