Job summary

West Milwaukee Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in West Milwaukee, WI is part of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers. The center seeks a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach for a grant-funded, full-time role with early-morning hours and a Monday–Friday schedule.

The role provides peer support to patients, coordinates with the clinical team, and helps individuals engage in recovery through MAT services and community resources.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• No previous work experience in the field is required, although highly preferred.
• Prefer direct experience in substance use disorder through personal life experiences, internships, or similar practicum.

Responsibilities

• Provides peer support to clinically complex patients, drawing on common experiences as a peer; validates each individuals’ experiences and provides guidance and encouragement to participate in recovery.
• Engages patients referred to treatment at initial point of contact to expedite screening for appropriate level of care.
• Acts as advocate and mentor to patients in recovery to promote decision making, empowerment and engagement.
• Acts as role model for patients by sharing coping techniques and self-help strategies for personal growth and stress management.
• Provides peer support knowledge related to MAT including methadone, buprenorphine or extended-release naltrexone.
• Serves as liaison between patients, clinical team and community resources to assist in housing, daily living, and connection to primary care.
• Keeps healthcare team updated on patient status and documents services per guidelines.
• Attends trainings and clinical supervision sessions; performs other duties as assigned.
