Job summary

West Milwaukee Comprehensive Treatment Center specializes in outpatient MAT and recovery support. This grant-funded role seeks a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach to assist patients in recovery, using lived experience to guide and motivate individuals toward active participation in their treatment plan.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with early morning hours, plus benefits and growth opportunities within Acadia Healthcare’s network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• No previous field experience required, though highly preferred.
• Direct experience in substance use disorder (SUD) through life, internships, or certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to clinically complex patients drawing on lived experience.
• Engage patients at initial contact to expedite screening for appropriate care.
• Act as mentor and advocate to promote empowerment and active recovery.
• Share coping techniques and self-help strategies to support growth and well-being.
• Provide MAT-related peer support information and guidance on treatment options.
• Liaise with patients, clinical team, and community resources to meet social needs.
• Document no-shows and contact difficulties; update notes per guidelines.
• Attend trainings and supervision sessions; perform duties as assigned.
