Job summary

True North Recovery, Inc. is seeking a Crisis Peer Support Specialist in Alaska to provide immediate access to services for clients in crisis and link them to assessments, housing, and community resources.

The role emphasizes motivational interviewing, collaboration with treatment teams, and helping clients through recovery planning, with strong documentation and outreach requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in human services or related field.
• If in recovery, one year of continuous sobriety prior to hire and active and continuing participation in a recovery support program, such as a 12-step program.
• Must obtain CDC II within 3 years of hire.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under TRUE NORTH RECOVERY INC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age.
• Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Create a supportive, non-judgmental environment to build rapport and utilize motivational interviewing to assist individuals.
• Provide direct peer support in active crisis with linkages to assessments, housing, and community resources.
• Assist clients in identifying and mitigating crisis stabilization needs.
• Serve as a role model to clients and liaison to providers and treatment teams.
• Provide motivational interviewing, social, and emotional support.
• Help clients understand and employ recovery strategies.
• Maintain awareness of Alaska crisis services and resources.
• Document clinical notes in the client’s EHR using appropriate formats.
• Coordinate with Emergency Services and ED professionals when needed.
• Engage in community outreach activities and attend staff meetings.
