Job summary

Washtenaw County Health Department is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals in regaining control over their recovery journey. Under supervision, you will provide direct peer support, help with assessments, and support the development and maintenance of Person Centered Plans.

You will collaborate with clinicians, advocate for consumer rights, coordinate services, and connect clients to community resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience accessing the public mental health system as a consumer preferred.
• Completion of Michigan Peer Support Specialist training within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct peer support to individuals with mental illness or related conditions.
• Assist clinicians with assessments and the development/maintenance of plans of service.
• Coordinate and monitor consumer services, documenting progress.
• Advocate for consumer rights and assist with navigating the system.
