Job summary

Elevate CCBHC is seeking a Peer Support Specialist in Waterloo, IA to assist clients with recovery and community integration. This role emphasizes strength-based, trauma-informed care and advocacy, supporting drop-in sessions and Strive Recovery activities on weekends.

Primary duties include modeling wellness, guiding self-advocacy, and linking clients to resources. Must be in recovery and complete required training; certification within six months may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be in recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring illness.
• Completion of DHS approved peer support specialist training and/or peer coaching program.
• If uncertified, must obtain state certification within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to clients and model wellness and self-advocacy.
• Help clients engage in recovery activities and access community resources.
• Lead or support group sessions and skill-building activities as needed.
• Assist clients with daily living activities and housing access when applicable.
• Coordinate with team and attend supervision meetings for Strive program.
