Job summary

Olmsted County in Minnesota seeks a Passport Agent to process applications, review identities, and support tax collection and real estate recording with strict attention to detail.

You will handle customer inquiries, prepare reports, greet and direct clients, and provide backup support within a diverse, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business, administrative assistant or related field.
  • High School diploma or GED with two years of experience in similar position.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of experience.
  • Must obtain passport agent certification within six months of employment.
  • Reviews identification and legal documents with attention to detail for passports, tax collection and real estate records.
  • Knowledge of data privacy policies, regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Process passport applications for the area of assignment.
  • Answer inquiries about policy, regulations and procedures regarding passports and related documents.
  • Answer inquiries for the public and representatives of private firms/government agencies.
  • Prepare, review and edit reports, documentation and correspondence.
  • Greet, assist and direct customers to locations of services.
  • Provide backup support for other department functions.
  • Perform related work as required.

Job description

Expected starting salary is $24.40 to $32.59. Full salary range is $24.40 - $40.77.


Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, administrative assistant or related field.


OR


High School graduate, G.E.D., or foreign education equivalent to a U.S. High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience in similar position as listed in the work functions.


OR


Combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.


Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.


Required Special Qualifications

Must be able to obtain the necessary certification to meet the federal requirement as a passport agent within six (6) months of employment. Under supervision, provide customer service, answers questions and processes applications with great attention to detail for the area of assignment including passports, tax collection, and recording of real estate documents. Reviews identification and legal documents. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment
