St Lucie County Sheriff's Office is seeking a clerical support specialist to assist an assigned work unit. You will perform typing, filing, data entry, mail handling, and document preparation under supervision, with training provided.
The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will interact with the public by phone and in person and support the office’s administrative functions.
This position is non-essential and is not required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
This position provides clerical support to an assigned work unit within the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO). Employees perform a variety of routine clerical duties necessary for the efficient operation of the unit. Positions may be assigned to a large operating division performing a broad range of general office support tasks or to a smaller specialized unit requiring focused clerical functions. Employees receive initial instruction and close supervision during training. Upon gaining the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, work is performed under direct supervision with regular review for accuracy and adherence to established standards and procedures.

Performs general clerical duties including typing, filing, data entry, and completion of standard forms and documents.
Operates standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, printers, and multi‑line telephone systems.
Answers and routes phone calls, takes and delivers messages, and provides information to callers as appropriate.
Copies, sorts, and files records related to office activities, business transactions, and other documentation.
Prepares letters, memos, reports, and forms according to written or verbal instructions.
Sorts and distributes incoming mail; processes and prepares outgoing correspondence.
Maintains filing systems both manually and electronically.
Schedules appointments, manages calendars, and coordinates meetings as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Clerical or administrative experience preferred.
