Job summary

Berklee College of Music is launching a new Professional Writing Labs recording program and seeks qualified students to help manage day-to-day operations. You will oversee the PWL office space, collect and review student compositions, and ensure proper formatting for recordings.

The role involves coordinating session details, preparing parts, and liaising with faculty to support professional-level recordings while gaining hands-on experience in ensemble management and communications.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Arranging 2 with a grade of A or B.
• Provide your final project’s score & parts from that course for review.
• Must have experience with printing and taping scores and parts.
• Must be comfortable with standard engraving conventions, including format, transpositions, multi-measure rests, etc.

Responsibilities

• Manage the PWL office space and staff the desk at 155 Mass. Ave.
• Collect and review student projects using provided checklist, PWL guidelines, and policies.
• Review score and parts for sizing, transpositions, writing, and department requirements.
• Communicate recording session details to student writers (arrival time, location, file delivery).
• Prepare parts for the Labs (taping, sorting, filling).
• Coordinate submission data and resolve issues with PWL staff.
• Complete required training with Jazz Composition and Contemporary Writing and Production departments.
