Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is hiring a Receptionist Clerk for 8 MPCU, FT, day/evening shifts. You will greet patients, answer calls, manage mail, assist nursing staff, and help with admissions/discharges using EMR systems.

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: 8 MPCU – This 20 bed telemetry PCU specializes in the care and management of patients on the Hospitalist service with Pulmonary and other medicine related illnesses. They are the alternate unit for Renal and other medical patients as seen on 9SPCU. This unit can take 2 chronically ventilated patients. The Receptionist Clerk serves as the front line to receive and greet patients and visitors for the Nursing Units. Answers calls made to the nursing department and answers questions or forwards to appropriate area if unable to answer inquiry. Receive mail and distribute to appropriate staff for processing. assists nursing staff with data entry as needed. Successful candidate will work three 12-hour Day/Evening shifts each week from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm including rotating weekends and holidays. The Receptionist Clerk Prioritizes and performs clerical duties to maintain effective unit functioning. Retrieves unit mail from the mailroom and routes to appropriate individuals. Serves as a unit resource. Maintains and orders unit supplies and equipment. Processes equipment between patients as needed (cleans unit based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment). Operates and maintains general office equipment. Utilizes effective communication skills. Receives and screens in coming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls to appropriate individuals and takes messages accurately. Exhibits competent knowledge of EMR and assists with chart audits. Manages admissions, transfers, and discharges. Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Provides support for department/unit staff scheduling, including lunch assignments. Monitors cleanliness of the waiting and break rooms, and performs safety/environmental rounds.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: None. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: None required. Life Support: Not applicable. Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required. Must be organized and self-motivated. Working knowledge of office procedures and equipment required.

$15.00 - $21.07 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
