This role:
The Receiving Warehouse Supervisor is a member of the Warehousing Leadership Team and reports directly to the Warehouse Manager. This position is responsible for supervising the activities of Incoming Receiving Warehouse Coordinators and Specialists. Responsibility includes material receipt and management, including API, across multiple areas or operations, supporting the production needs for manufacturing and packaging, including working with other Supervisors to deploy employees as needed across all Bloomington locations.
The responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, support, direction, and leadership through positive interactions with all personnel during daily operations over multiple shifts.
- Interview, hire, coach, and develop staff. Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Assist in setting performance objectives and development plans.
- Supervise the day-to-day warehouse operations, scheduling and staffing, material management, compliance, training, and auditing activities to support Manufacturing needs.
- Oversee and Champion Safety, 6S, EMS and other programs as requested by Sr. Management.
- Drive daily continuous improvement through process reviews/updates, capacity planning/maximization, using project management and problem-solving tools.
- Ensure warehouse is maintained per requirements: cGMP, OSHA, Baxter CQP/SOP, EHS.
- Ensure truck driving is performed under appropriate DOT and FMSCA guidelines.
- Meet warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system improvements.
- Meet warehouse financial standards by monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
- Move inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouses, coordinating inventory transfers with related departments, adhering to FIFO/FIFE staging of materials for use.
- Ensure material is dispensed per MFG schedule and expectations through Schedule review and planning.
- Author/assist/approve reports regarding significant issues (e.g., NCR). SME on areas specific SOPs.
- Represent the company/lead during audits and inspections.
- Maintain storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
- Train as driver and warehouse specialist to support resource gaps as needed.
- Maintain inventory and ensure inventory accuracy through performance and reconciliation of physical/cycle counts.
- Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Provide direct support to the weekend shift team and supervision driving program, communicating needs in the shift-to-shift transfer.
- Partner with the weekend shift supervisor to implement continuous improvement activities.
- Know how to receive material and supervise receipt activities as needed.
- Cross train in all warehouses.
- Work with Warehouse Group Leads to deploy resources as needed on weekdays.
- Train to investigate and author Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs & SNCRs), own/accept CAPAs, observations, and as a CCM (Change Control) owner.
- Lead client tours/audits.
- Ensure all team members are knowledgeable and adhering to area and department specific SOPs, as well as maintaining required training compliance.
- Create, track, maintain, and update area specific supply chain metrics.
Desirable qualifications:
- Associate degree or experience as a warehouse lead in multiple areas required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of warehouse/logistics or manufacturing experience required.
- Minimum 3 years leadership experience required.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software.
- Must be able to utilize material handling equipment (forklift, etc.).
- Acquire and maintain a For Hire License with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Physical / Safety Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push/pull heavy wheeled objects (ie: tanks, carts, pallet jacks, etc.).
- Utilize applicable personal protective equipment, including safety shoes/toe caps, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, and lift to support packing and warehouse activities.
- Duties may require additional hours over 40 scheduled and/or weekend rotation.
- Must be able to work in various temperatures up to -65 to -85 Celsius.
